The AUTOEXEC.BAT file is an example of the fanatic uses of ANSWER.COM. I am so
impressed by the usefulness of ANSWER that I am in the process of trying to hack
the feature into COMMAND.COM, or at least make it compatible with C.J. Dunford's
CED/PCED 'attach' feature. Users of RSTS/E will find the AUTOEXEC similar to
the OPTION level after running $SHUTUP. It should be noted that there is one
problem in the AUTOEXEC; that when releasing the TSRs that the memory from
SUPERSPL is not released properly (EMS memory). If the TSRs are subsequently
re-installed, SUPERSPL spills over into regular memory and reduces DOS memory.
This seems to be a problem with MARK/RELEASE, which IS supposed to manage EMS.
Other pertinent notes: Setting up the environment after installing TSRs saved
almost 4K of memory. A small BUFFERS command makes BATch files crawl.
